The Art of Italian Cinematography and Beyond

CINEMA ROUTE 65. Collettivo Chiaroscuro is among the institutional partners

Rome, Saturday 18 October 2025 – Auditorium Camplus Pietralata

The name – Cinema Route 65 – immediately evokes, between its beginning and its final number, a technical and artistic field much discussed today: large format. This comes decades after the boom of the various systems launched in the 1950s. Route, meanwhile, suggests a path, a direction – a journey of discovery and exploration through the old and new technologies that are redefining the cinematic language.

In essence, this is an initiative – an event conceived to envision a credible future for large-format cinema, both analogue and digital. With a special focus on 65mm, seen as the key to a return to greatness, the tool for imagining new horizons for the Seventh Art. After all, cinema is often defined as “the big screen” – and what could be better than a large-format frame to enable flawless projection on truly vast screens, with visual and emotional impact of the highest order?

Below is the detailed schedule for a day devoted to technological and artistic innovation in cinematography, featuring some of the most renowned Directors of Photography, VFX artists, and leading international brands in the industry.
