The first edition of the LAC Film Festival — an event dedicated to independent cinema, audiovisual education and civic engagement — will take place in Rome from 10 to 12 July 2026, at the Laboratorio d’Arte Cinematografica in Saxa Rubra. Directed by Alessandro Colizzi and promoted by the Laboratorio d’Arte Cinematografica, an organisation with years of experience in audiovisual training and outreach, the festival was created with the aim of celebrating cinema as a tool for knowledge, participation and social transformation.
Among the festival’s partners, Collettivo Chiaroscuro has established the Award for Best Cinematography, a recognition dedicated to celebrating the art of cinematography in the short films in competition. The award’s jury is made up of Collettivo members Alessandro Chiodo, Alfredo Betrò, Massimo Intoppa, Corrado Serri, Luca Ciuti, Francesca Amitrano, Daria D’Antonio, Sara Purgatorio and Timoty Aliprandi, who will assign the recognition to the work that stands out for the quality and effectiveness of its cinematography.
Among the main events: a tribute to director Giuseppe Colizzi with a screening of Dio perdona… io no! (God Forgives… I Don’t!); talks and exhibitions by photographers Francesco Zizola and Angelo Turetta; the presentation of the documentary Io lo so chi siete (I Know Who You Are), dedicated to Vincenzo Agostino; and a screening of Claudia fa brutti sogni (Claudia Has Bad Dreams), winner at numerous Italian festivals. The event will close with Opinioni Pericolose Live by the Slim Dogs and the awards ceremony.
