The short film Dust in the Wind, directed by Valentina Caniglia CCS, has been selected for the LA Shorts International Film Festival in Los Angeles, one of the leading international festivals dedicated to short films. The film will be screened today, 10 August, at 7.45 pm at Regal NoHo West in North Hollywood, as part of the festival’s Programme 58.

A six-minute US drama, Dust in the Wind is written by Adeline Satornino and produced by Adeline Satornino and Jessica Caban. The cast includes Mason Kokodynski, Adeline Satornino and William Silver.
The film follows an encounter on a bridge between a deeply despondent man and a mysterious woman: a brief meeting that becomes a quiet reflection on the fragile beauty of the human condition.
Valentina Caniglia told us: ‘Shot primarily at night, with contrasts between light and shadow and the addition of cool lighting in shades of blue and green, the cinematography of Dust in the Wind follows the young protagonist as he wanders, overwhelmed by chaotic thoughts and resolved to end his life. As he walks, memories resurface, represented visually through a technique originally used with film known as ‘cross-processing’, in which yellow and green tones predominate. At the end of his journey, he encounters an ‘alien woman’ and is engulfed in a white halogen light that opens up a new world to him. ».

Now in its 30th edition in 2026, the LA Shorts International Film Festival is the longest-running short film festival in Los Angeles, presenting more than 400 films each year to an audience of approximately 10,000. Over the course of its history, 69 filmmakers whose work has been screened at the festival have gone on to receive Academy Award nominations, with 18 winning an Oscar. LA Shorts is, in fact, a qualifying festival for the Academy Awards®, BAFTA, the Canadian Screen Awards and the Goya Awards.
The entire Collettivo Chiaroscuro wishes Dust in the Wind and Valentina Caniglia, in her role as director, the very best of luck.
