Graduated from the DAMS program in Bologna, specializing in cinema, he subsequently obtained a European IV level diploma as an Audiovisual Production Technician from IAL Emilia Romagna. In Bologna and later in Rome, he trained by working as a video assist, assistant camera, and occasionally as a camera assistant on film sets, TV series, short films, documentaries, commercials, and music videos, alongside prominent Italian and European directors of photography.
At the same time, he dedicated himself to photographing independent short films, documentaries, and music videos, which have received awards and recognition at Italian and international festivals, including the David di Donatello for the short film Thriller in 2015.
Since 2014, he has focused exclusively on a career as a director of photography. In 2016, he shot his first feature film, La vita in comune by Edoardo Winspeare, which was in competition at the Venice Film Festival’s Orizzonti section in 2017. In 2018, his second film, Il bene mio by Pippo Mezzapesa, was presented as a Special Event at the Giornate degli Autori at Venice 75 and, after receiving various other accolades, was nominated for the 2019 Globo d’Oro for Best Cinematography.
