The screenplay is written by Paolo Genovese, Isabella Aguilar, Lucia Calamaro, Paolo Costella, and Flaminia Gressi.
Follemente is produced by Lotus Production (Leone Film Group) with Rai Cinema, in collaboration with Disney+ and in association with Vice Pictures. The direct sound recording is by Umberto Montesanti. The film is distributed by 01 Distribution.
The story follows a first date between a man named Piero (Edoardo Leo) and a woman named Lara (Pilar Fogliati), revealing the dynamics they employ to connect, understand each other, perhaps make love, and start a relationship. Their interactions unfold through continuous vocal and mental confessions, accompanied by the external presence and telepathic suggestions of eight additional characters (four men and four women) with contrasting personalities and temperaments.
