Laboratorio d’arte cinematografica: 13 February, 5–7 PM, meeting with Alberto Crespi and Massimo Intoppa CCS on Nosferatu

On 13 February 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, the Laboratorio d’arte cinematografica in Rome (Via Carlo Emery 47) will host a lecture-meeting with Alberto Crespi and Massimo Intoppa CCS on Nosferatu. The renowned film critic and host of Hollywood Party on Radio 3, alongside cinematographer Massimo Intoppa CCS, will compare Murnau’s classic with its latest reinterpretation by American director Robert Eggers—two films perfectly suited to exploring the values of shadow and light.

Eggers’ Nosferatu (2024) is a remake of the silent Expressionist classic Nosferatu, the Vampyre (1922) by Murnau, itself loosely based on Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula. The cast includes Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Willem Dafoe, and Bill Skarsgård in the role of Count Orlok. Nosferatu tells the story of the dark obsession that binds a young woman, Ellen Hutter, to the vampire who haunts her.

Filming took place primarily at Barrandov Studios in Prague between February and May 2023, with locations including Corvin Castle in Transylvania, Pernštejn Castle, Rožmitál pod Třemšínem, the Invalidovna complex in the Czech Republic, and the German city of Lübeck.
