Born in Rome to a Chilean father and an Italian mother, she pursued classical studies before entering the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia at the age of 20, where she studied under the renowned cinematographer Giuseppe Rotunno for three years. After completing her studies, she worked as an assistant to several distinguished Italian cinematographers, including Maurizio Calvesi, Roberto Cianchetti, and Nicola Pecorini, as well as international cinematographers, thanks to her fluency in four languages.
In 2007, the short film Uova, which she shot as a director of photography (DoP), won the David di Donatello award. Encouraged by this success and her collaboration with Calvesi, she decided to pursue a career as a DoP. Her work has primarily involved international co-productions, taking her around the world to countries like Italy, France, England, Chile, Uruguay, Guatemala, and Mexico.
She has worked with notable directors such as Nanni Moretti on Santiago, Italia, Vincenzo Marra on La prima luce, Beniamino Catena on Io sono Vera, Rocco Papaleo on Onda su onda, Gabriele Guidi on Terezin, Rodrigo SepĂșlveda on Ardente paciencia, and Cinzia Bomoll on La California. For La California, she won the 2023 Esposimetro d’Oro, the Gianni Di Venanzo award for cinematography.
Her films have been featured at major festivals worldwide, including Cannes, Venice, Guadalajara, and Turin. Since 2011, she has frequently worked in Chile, her second homeland. With the establishment of an economic agreement between Italy and Chile, she has become a key figure in Italo-Chilean co-productions. She also served as the president of the Chilean Cinematography Association.
Passionate about both fiction and documentary filmmaking, she is drawn to stories that offer new perspectives to the world, believing that cinema has the power to reveal unknown narratives. In 2019, she made her directorial debut with the documentary Entierro and is currently preparing her second documentary, El hombre necesario. She considers herself a proud Italo-Chilean, delighted to blend the cultures and perspectives of her two worlds through the lenses and light of both continents.
