The Art of Italian Cinematography and Beyond

Mirco Sgarzi

He entered the world of cinema in 2003. After several years of experience as a camera assistant, DIT, and video camera operator, in 2007 he began working as a director of photography, primarily in the underground horror cinema scene for Italian and Canadian productions. He was responsible for the cinematography of several international feature films intended for the global home video market. Over the years, he continued to work as the cinematographer for numerous short films, music videos, and documentaries, earning awards for Best Cinematography at both international and Italian festivals.

In 2019, he was the cinematographer for The Land of Dreams, the debut feature film by director Nicola Abbatangelo, marking his first appearance in Italian cinemas. In 2023, he worked alongside director Cinzia “TH” Torrini on the film Sei nell’anima, which tells the story of singer-songwriter Gianna Nannini. In 2024, he collaborated with colleagues Alessandro Pesci and Valerio Evangelista on the TV series Sandokan, produced by Fremantle and Lux Vide.
