Collettivo Chiaroscuro supports the #SiamoAITitoliDiCoda movement and echoes the call for a General Assembly of the entire film sector to respond to the funding cuts decided by the Government

PRODUCERS AND UNIONS, HEROES FOR A WHILE – UNTIL THEIR INTERESTS AND PROFITS ARE AT STAKE!

Rome, 22 October 2025 – “Siamo ai titoli di coda” Movement

**ANICA, APA, CNA, SLC CGIL and the complicity of silence:
WE DO NOT FORGET AND WE DO NOT BOW DOWN**

The movement #Siamo ai titoli di coda strongly condemns the unacceptable behaviour of ANICA, APA and CNA – associations of film and audiovisual producers that, for two years, in the midst of an unprecedented crisis, have not uttered a single word in defence of the industry’s workers, crews, technicians and performers, all crushed under the weight of the hardships caused by the government’s deliberate decision to attack the sector out of sheer will for dominance. A government whose intent is to repress and silence culture, so as not to nurture the critical thinking that fuels dissent. A deafening silence, even in the face of the clear awareness that today funds are being cut to divert resources towards armaments – a demonstration of political indifference towards culture and of profound civic disrespect. These associations of entrepreneurs have been complicit with the reckless policies promoted by Undersecretary Lucia Borgonzoni, indeed showing servility towards the government.
We will not forget that silence, nor can we accept the hypocrisy with which those same associations – together with SLC CGIL (historically mute and now openly aligned with employers’ interests) – are today calling for the sector’s dissent in the name of its workers against the government’s manoeuvre that cuts hundreds of millions of euros from the Cinema and Audiovisual Fund.
They are trying to exploit workers in order to preserve the status quo and their own privileges.
It is undeniable that these cuts will set us back 15 years, yet the alarm raised by producers and trade unions comes only now – when at stake are no longer just the jobs and dignity of the crews, but also, and above all, the wallets of the “majors” and the very production structure of the associations themselves, which keep asking us to make sacrifices even though they never defended us, authors and performers, from the ignoble attacks we suffered from pro-government media.
It is unacceptable.

THE APPEAL TO THE INDUSTRY
For these reasons, the movement #Siamo ai titoli di coda calls on all colleagues to rise up against this hypocrisy.
Do not comply with the demands of those who have turned their backs on you for years.
Do not allow yourselves to be used as a human shield to defend their interests.
Do not join rhetorical appeals promoted by those who, for years, have upheld the status quo and renewed their privileges – the very same who, together with the Government, have co-determined the current disaster.
Do not lend yourselves to their opportunistic manipulation. We ask you to make yourselves available for a General Assembly, which we will convene as soon as possible.
It is time to give a strong and united response – independent and free from employer-driven and collusive logic.
Enough with silence and opportunism. Our voice will not be theirs.
