Stella gemella, the new film by Luca Lucini, was released yesterday in Italian cinemas after premiering at the Rome Film Fest in the Grand Public section. A sentimental comedy built around a rare case of heteropaternal superfecundation, the film follows the crisis of a young couple suddenly forced to redefine the balance of their family and emotional life.

The film stars Martina Gatti and Matteo Olivetti, alongside Margherita Buy, Laura Morante, Eugenia Costantini, Jimi Durotoje, Alessio Moneta, Mattia Basciani, Paola Buratto and Fabrizio Colica. The screenplay is by Davide Lisino, Luca Lucini, Greta Scicchitano, Marta Storti and Ilaria Storti.

Davide Manca CCS told us:
«‘Handheld camera throughout, entirely handheld. Raw, with a lot of light hitting the lens, selective focus all the time, with one single aim: to be as unclassical as possible. A strong focus on faces, lots of sunrises and sunsets, nights in clubs, hospitals… the Agro Pontino at dusk is something special. Spherical lenses after a long time, in search of even greater naturalism, soft colour work to lighten the blacks, and great attention paid to the actors’ eyes.’ ».
