At the Rome Film Fest today, the press conference and world premiere of the new seven-episode Netflix series Mrs Playmen, starring Carolina Crescentini. We are pleased to note that the cinematography is by Federico Schlatter CCS.
Set in Italy between the late 1960s and the 1970s, the series tells the story of Adelina Tattilo, a determined and courageous woman who led the Italian erotic magazine Playmen, considered the country’s “answer” to the American Playboy. Adelina played a major role in changing attitudes and challenging taboos in a still highly conservative Italy, deeply influenced by traditional religious values. The magazine embodied a form of “elegant” eroticism, more suggestive than explicit, and became a voice for themes that legitimised female desire in a context where such subjects were often censored or avoided. The series therefore explores not only the entrepreneurial, editorial and media aspects of the magazine, but also the Italian social, cultural and political context of the time, marked by tensions between modernity and tradition, between sexual liberation and moralism.
Directed by Riccardo Donna, with a screenplay by Mario Ruggeri (alongside Eleonora Cimpanelli, Chiara Laudani, Sergio Leszczynski and Alessandro Sermoneta). Cinematography by Federico Schlatter CCS. Produced for Netflix by Aurora TV / Banijay Italia. Alongside Carolina Crescentini, the cast includes Filippo Nigro, Giuseppe Maggio, Francesca Colucci, Domenico Diele, Francesco Colella, Lidia Vitale and Giampiero Judica.
