Timoty Aliprandi was born in Rome in 1980. The son of director Marcello, he has been passionate about painting, architecture (“If I weren’t working as a director of photography, I would spend all day drawing objects of every kind”), photography, and cinema from a young age. In the 1980s and ’90s, he spent his nights recording cinematic masterpieces that aired on TV onto VHS tapes. After classical studies, he graduated from DAMS (Disciplines of Art, Music, and Entertainment) and began working in the film industry as a production assistant. He soon realized that his true calling was as an artisan who, through light and camera movements, could create images.
While working as a camera operator for film, he began to sign the cinematography for various commercials (Ray-Ban, Bulgari, Ariston, Mercedes, Panini, D&G, Toyota, L’Oreal, Golden Lady, Testoni, Mutti, Tim, etc.) and music videos (Negramaro, Negrita, Fabri Fibra, Litfiba, Planet Funk, Salmo, East 17, Subsonica, etc.). In 2017, he started working on narrative works such as films, series, and documentaries, seeking his own approach: his signature style is a soft and enveloping lighting, aiming for either the purest realism or impactful aesthetic surrealism.
Among the films he has worked on are:
