National Strike of the Film and Audiovisual Sector

Friday 28 November 2025
Assembly at 9:30 – Piazza Indipendenza, Rome

Saturday 29 November 2025
Assembly at 14:00 – Porta San Paolo, Rome

Colleagues,
The time has come to raise our voices. The #siamoatitolidicoda movement invites all workers in the Film and Audiovisual sector to join the General Strike on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 November 2025. We will gather, united, to demonstrate and make our dissent heard against a system that exploits us, impoverishes us, and endangers the very survival of our art and our profession.
.

Our Reasons are urgent:
Against the War Budget and Unliveable Wages: We reject a financial plan that allocates resources elsewhere while our sector is being torn apart in its entire productive and occupational fabric, at a time when our periods of employment and our salaries are beginning to collapse and can no longer guarantee a dignified life.

Lack of Welfare and Protection in the Sector: It is unacceptable that the Entertainment sector lacks a real and credible welfare system that protects us from unemployment, illness and injury, recognising the discontinuity and structural precariousness of our work, especially in this period of grave crisis induced by the government itself.

Collapse of Working Conditions and Safety: We denounce the progressive and dangerous deterioration of working conditions — unsustainable rhythms, brutal working hours and a constant decline in safety standards for crews. Quality and safety are in free fall!

Sector Crisis, Cuts and Disastrous Reforms: The crisis that has unfolded over the past two years is worsening. The planned cut to the Cinema Development Fund and the forthcoming Cinema Law threaten to become yet another foretold disaster, undermining the production chain and employment.

CCNL Crew: No Renewal Since 1999! The silence is deafening. It is unacceptable that the National Collective Labour Contract (CCNL) for crews has not been renewed for over twenty-five years. This regulatory void is the root of our exploitation — especially in light of what is being proposed for the future.

The Ineffectiveness of the Trade Union Representatives: We believe that the current confederated union representatives have been utterly ineffective — if not entirely absent — in safeguarding the rights of us workers. The time has come for action from below.

We are not seeking a vague, all-encompassing unity; we are fully aware that our sector will never be united. But we believe that those who reject exploitation and believe in the dignity of honest work feel, deep down, that it has become necessary to act — to break free from the frameworks in which we have been trapped. We are no longer willing to work in inhuman conditions to guarantee profits for the few. On 28 and 29 November, let us keep the camera motors off, the set lights dark, and the theatres empty, and let us take to the streets to defend our dignity.

Let us make our hardships heard loud and clear! The time has come for all of you to stand with us at the closing credits.
